Early Life and Education

Growing up in Keradi, a village in Karnataka, Rishab developed an early interest in performing arts, particularly the traditional Yakshagana theater. He pursued a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Vijaya College, Bengaluru, and later obtained a diploma in film direction from the Government Film and TV Institute in Bangalore.

Career Beginnings

Rishab's journey in the film industry commenced with various roles, including working as a clap boy, spot boy, and assistant director.

His acting debut came with a role in the film "Tuglak" (2012), followed by a notable performance as a police officer in "Lucia" (2013). He gained further recognition with his role in "Ulidavaru Kandanthe" (2014)

Directorial Ventures

In 2016, Rishab made his directorial debut with "Ricky," featuring Rakshit Shetty. The same year, he directed "Kirik Party," which became a significant success in Kannada cinema. His subsequent directorial project, "Sarkari Hi. Pra. Shaale, Kasaragodu, Koduge: Ramanna Rai" (2018), received critical acclaim and won the National Film Award for Best Children's Film.

Rishab achieved nationwide recognition with "Kantara" (2022), a film he directed and starred in. The movie, initially released in Kannada, garnered critical acclaim and commercial success, becoming one of the highest-grossing Kannada films of all time.

Building on his success, Rishab is set to portray Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in the upcoming historical epic "The Pride of Bharat: Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj," directed by Sandeep Singh. The film is slated for a worldwide release on January 21, 2027

Rishab is married to Pragathi Shetty, and the couple has two children. In July 2023, he celebrated his 40th birthday by launching the 'Rishab Shetty Foundation,' aimed at financing education for students in government schools across Karnataka.
